Mind Games

Romans 8:5-9

New International Version (NIV)

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”

We need to take control of our minds and thoughts.

If we were in a car going down a hill we need to have it in the right gear so that it doesn’t get out of control.

It is the same with our minds. We need to walk in the Spirit and take control of our thoughts so that they line up with the Word of God, which is the truth so that our minds don’t go out of control and onto thought patterns that can lead us into areas we don’t want to go.

James 1:5-8

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”

We need to keep our thoughts in line with what God has told us He will do and not waver in doubt or disbelief.

Matthew 26:41

New International Version (NIV)

41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Our flesh is weak and the Lord knew this and that is why he warned us to stay in vigilant prayer and watch our thoughts.

Joshua 24:15

New International Version (NIV)

15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Today we need to reign in our thoughts and choose whom we will serve. whom will our minds and thoughts focus on. Whom will we give our thought time over to.

It is our choice!
